Group Chat Part 1 Group Chat Part 2 Group Chat Part 3 Group Chat Part 4 Group Chat Part 5

9:04 AM. Nia is gone. It's just us now.

I removed her myself. Told her to go deal with her florists and that we had everything handled. She laughed and disappeared. I meant it warmly. I also meant it practically — because what is about to happen in this chat is not something a bride needs to witness two months before her wedding.

Anyway.

Tuesday night at 7:42 PM I answered Jada's passport question. Looked it up, typed it out, sent it to the whole group. Mexico does not require six months of validity — just needs to be valid for the actual trip. I even told Maya specifically to go check hers.

Nobody said anything back.

Not a response. Not a reaction. Not even a "k." Just... nothing. And then this morning Jada informed the group that she is still waiting on someone to answer her passport question.

I stared at my phone for a good three seconds. Then I kept moving because what else are you going to do.

THEN — before I could even send the planning link — the mere suggestion of creating one account sent everybody into a full spiral. Maya wants to use GroupMe. Iman announced she has eleven unused travel apps on her phone like that was supposed to make me feel better. And Kendra called me a superhero which is her very consistent way of telling me this is entirely my problem to solve.

I'm also coordinating Tasha's April wedding in a separate WhatsApp that has been going since November. And before that it was a Google Form for a birthday Airbnb that somehow asked for dietary restrictions but not arrival times. I don't know who made that form but they owe me an apology.

The point is — I'm tired of starting from scratch every single time somebody I love has something to celebrate.

But before any of that can happen I have to convince this group to actually put their card information somewhere to lock in bookings. And based on how today went? That conversation is going to be something else entirely.

Unbothered. Moisturized. Lying about both.
