Group Chat Part 1 Group Chat Part 2 Group Chat Part 3 Group Chat Part 4 Group Chat Part 5

Sunday. 8:47 PM. A whole week gone.

I sent those links Monday morning. Five options. Carefully curated. Different price points, different vibes, all beachfront, all available for our dates. I spent my Sunday night pulling them together so the group would have something concrete to react to first thing in the week.

It is now the following Sunday and I have one lukewarm "they're all fine" from Iman, two "I'll look this weekend" promises that expired quietly, and a fresh request from Jada for the cancellation policies of five separate resorts.

I'll get to it.

Here is what I know about decision fatigue that nobody wants to admit. Five options is actually too many. The moment you give people more than two or three things to compare something in the brain shuts down and suddenly everything feels equally overwhelming and equally unimportant. I know this. I should have sent three options maximum. That's on me.

But here is what I also know.

I am simultaneously coordinating a hotel block for the wedding in April. Different group of people entirely. I sent the links Monday. They picked something by Tuesday. Deposit is already down. No debates. No cancellation policy requests. No week of silence. Nothing. Same site this group called "sketchy", by the way. The April wedding group didn't blink.

So it's not the links. It's not the options. It's not even the process.

It's this group.

And more specifically — it's the fact that Kendra hasn't said a single word all week. Not one. And I think everyone in that chat felt it. Because they all know how this works by now. They picked a vibe they didn't fully want last week because Kendra spoke first. So why would anyone put in the effort to pick a resort she might walk in and override anyway? Why do the work just to get overruled? So they're waiting. All of them. Quietly. For her.

I want to be clear about something. I don't have a problem with Kendra. I have a problem with the fact that she has contributed exactly zero decisions, zero research, and zero effort to this trip — and still somehow holds more influence over this group than the person who has been doing everything. That imbalance is what I'm sitting with tonight.

And when — not if, when — she comes into that chat next week with a fully formed opinion about resorts she hasn't looked at, on a trip she hasn't planned, I need you to know that I am going to have a very hard time being the version of myself that I have been up until now.

I'll update you Tuesday.

Unbothered. Moisturized. Lying about both.
