2:01 PM. Maya said she got us.

I want to start there because I need you to understand the full weight of that sentence. Maya. Who has been booking her flight "tonight" since we announced this trip. Maya. Who voted for both options in the poll. Maya. Who once responded to a message from three weeks prior like it had just been sent. That Maya just volunteered to put her card down for the suite deposit.

And Jada said thank you and moved on like that was a normal thing that was going to happen on a predictable timeline.

I'll send her the link. I will follow up. I will do it politely and without making her feel bad because that is just who I am. But I want you to know that I am going to be watching that booking confirmation like it is the most important document of my entire year. Because it might be.

Here is what I want to say about the rest of this conversation though — and I mean this genuinely. This group surprised me today. Iman booked her own room without making it a whole thing. And then — completely unprompted — offered Maya her bathroom so she wouldn't have to fight for mirror time with everyone else. That is the quietest, most thoughtful thing anyone has done in this entire planning process and I want it on the record. Kendra said she wanted to wake up next to her sister on the first morning and I had to take a breath because that is the Kendra I know underneath everything. Jada offered to share with me before I even had to ask. And Maya took the couch without blinking because she won't be sleeping much anyway which is the most accurate thing she has ever said about herself. 😂

And then I asked for help. Out loud. In the chat. For the first time in this entire process. And even though it landed a little awkwardly — Jada's re-read of my message is going to live in my head rent free for a while — someone stepped up. Even if that someone is Maya.

I also want to mention — the girls quietly decided to split the cost of Kendra's portion between them so Nia doesn't have to pay for her own sister's room. Nobody announced it. Nobody made it a big moment. They just did it. After everything this group has put me through I needed to see that. 😭

So here we are. Rooms are figured out. Technically. The suite is not booked yet but it will be.

Maya said tonight. I believe her. I have to believe her.

Unbothered. Moisturized. Lying about both.
